Spend two to four weeks creating, researching, and connecting in Chiang Mai, Thailand, as part of Studio 88 Artist Residency’s vibrant international community. Whether you’re developing a new body of work, exploring fresh ideas, or seeking dedicated time for your practice, this residency offers the space and support to help you move forward.

We welcome applications from artists and creatives across all disciplines. In addition to the three funded places for Southeast Asian artists, a limited number of partially funded residencies are also available for applicants from Southeast Asia and around the world.

We welcome applications from artists and creatives working in all disciplines, including but not limited to:

  • Visual Arts
  • Performance and Theatre
  • Dance
  • Music and Sound
  • Film and Photography
  • Literature and Creative Writing
  • Design and Architecture
  • Social Practice
  • Interdisciplinary and Experimental Practices

How to Apply
Interested applicants should submit:

  1. A statement of intent (500 words max) outlining your practice, residency goals, and how you plan to engage with healing arts.
  2. A portfolio or examples of previous work (images, video links, or descriptions).
  3. A CV or bio highlighting relevant experience.
  4. Preferred residency duration (2–4 weeks) and availability within the program dates.
  5. Submit an application and supporting document online.

Residency Dates:
Choose preferred month: July, August or September

Residency Fee & what we offer
There is no application submission fee.
Studio 88 is a self-funded residency. Artists are required to pay for a residency fee unless stated otherwise.

Funding Scheme for the Summer Artist Residency
Fully Funded Residency for up to 3 selected SEA artists
will receive Residency Fee Waived.
Partial Funded Residency for shortlisted SEA artists will pay Group Fee Rate.
Partial Funded Residency for other International artists will pay Duo Fee rate.
Artists who received partial funding and any accompanying member will pay the remaining residency fee upon acceptance, based on the residency fee and services listed on our website. Terms and conditions apply.

Selection Process
Studio 88 will select the participating artists on a rolling basis. Selected artists will be notified via email within two weeks after submission.
