A space for making and thinking in Chiangmai
Jay Cheng is a Hong Kong-born artist and practitioner currently living in Chiang Mai, Thailand, whose creative journey has evolved through different forms of making, identity and care. Currently in transition from her longstanding practice as a hat-maker towards healing and mediumship, Cheng is exploring this transformation through her healing art. Her first exhibition “A Moving Ceremony: The Art of Becoming” is taking place at Studio 88 in September – October 2026.

We’re excited to welcome Jasmine Baksh, a sculptor and multidisciplinary artist, to Studio 88. Based in Clifton, New Jersey, Jasmine’s work is deeply autobiographical, shaped by personal experiences and memories that explore themes of domestic violence, hidden emotions, and instability. Through her confessional art, she transforms difficult life experiences into powerful visual narratives, using sculpture as a language to communicate what words often cannot.

Known for her bold, surrealist paintings, Abi’s work explores the intersections of identity, culture, and the lasting impact of colonial histories. Her art challenges dominant narratives, using vivid imagery to confront themes of postcolonialism, education, and the complexities of personal and collective memory.
