Studio 88 Artist Residency invites artists and creative practitioners from around the world to join the third edition of Reviving Nature in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Reviving Nature brings together artists working across disciplines to explore relationships between art, nature and community. The 2027 edition, Play • Learn • Perform • Participate, encourages curiosity, experimentation and creative approaches to environmental awareness.
Artists are invited to develop new ideas, extend existing projects, exchange knowledge and explore opportunities for collaboration and public engagement.
Residency: 4 January – 28 March 2027
Duration: Flexible stays of 3–8 weeks
Location: Studio 88 Artist Residency, Doi Saket, Chiang Mai, Thailand

What the Residency Offers
Studio 88 provides a supportive environment for artists to concentrate on their work while connecting with Chiang Mai’s artistic, cultural and local communities.
The standard residency includes:
- Accommodation in an individual bungalow and access to studio/workspace
- Utilities, Wi-Fi and basic on-site administrative support
- Research assistance and curated studio visits
- Opportunities for exchange with artists, curators and local creative communities
- Promotion of participating artists through Studio 88’s communication channels
Artists may also be invited to present work through exhibitions, performances, workshops, talks, open studios or other activities associated with Reviving Nature 2027.
Public presentation opportunities depend on the nature of the proposed work, available resources and programme arrangements. Additional production or exhibition costs may apply.Projects may be poetic, experimental, educational, performative, speculative, interactive or socially engaged.
Residency Fees & Sponsorship
One Sponsored Residency Place
Studio 88 is offering one sponsored residency place for Reviving Nature 2027.
The selected artist will receive a full waiver of the standard residency fee for the agreed residency period, including the accommodation, workspace and residency support normally covered by that fee.
The sponsorship does not cover travel, food, personal living expenses, visas, insurance, art materials or additional production expenses. Any additional services or project costs will be discussed and agreed separately.
Self-Funded Residency Places
Other selected artists are welcome to participate on a self-funded basis.
Residency fees depend on the duration of stay and the applicable individual or group rate. Fees cover standard accommodation, workspace and residency support.

All applicable fees and arrangements will be confirmed before an artist accepts a residency offer.Studio 88 offers a setting that is both secluded and connected: a place for concentrated practice within reach of Chiang Mai’s artistic and cultural life.
How to Apply
Applications are welcome from emerging and established artists across visual arts, performance, music, writing, film, design, digital media, ecological practice and other creative disciplines.
Applicants do not need specialist experience in environmental art. We welcome thoughtful proposals, fresh perspectives and a willingness to explore.
Please submit your application by 31 October 2026, including your artist biography, statement, portfolio, proposed project (maximum two pages), preferred residency dates and any technical requirements.
Applicants wishing to be considered for the sponsored residency should indicate this in the application form.
