Sujittra Prasert

Studio 88 is pleased to welcome Sujittra Prasert, a Botanical Drawing Artist whose delicate brushstrokes bring Thai flora into luminous life. Her practice is not only about painting—it is about pausing, observing, and finding a deeper connection with nature’s wisdom. Over the years, Sujittra has collaborated with Studio 88 in many creative ways—bringing her vision to life as a visual artist, performer, weaving stories as a puppeteer, and guiding participants as a workshop facilitator.

Since 2000, Sujittra has been bringing Thai flora to life through detailed botanical watercolors. Her paintings have been commissioned by the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden (Royal Flora Rajapruek) in Mae Rim, Chiang Mai, and have found their way into everyday life as designs for shawls, T-shirts, pillow covers, and bags. Collaborations with Bangkok-based printing studios and the Sai Jai Thai Foundation further reflect her commitment to making botanical art accessible beyond traditional canvases.

As the founder of BF Botanical Friendship, Sujittra has dedicated her artistic journey to celebrating the quiet beauty and cultural depth of Thai plants, flowers, and herbs. At the heart of Sujittra’s practice is the belief that Thai flowers and herbs carry deep cultural, spiritual, and healing significance. She views botanical painting not simply as an artistic exercise, but as a meditative practice—one that cultivates focus, mindfulness, and appreciation for life’s often-overlooked details. Botanical art, she explains, requires patience and attention: careful observation of petals, leaves, and colors that blend harmoniously in nature. This process allows the artist and the viewer alike to pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves and their environment.

Her initiative, BF Botanical Friendship, embodies this philosophy by transforming botanical watercolors into patterns and products that tell the stories of Thai flowers and their meanings in human life—from birth to death. She emphasizes the importance of flowers in Thai life: for example Lotus as a symbol of purity and enlightenment; Jasmine representing love and gratitude; and, Orange Jasmine bringing prosperity and good fortune.

Sujittra’s vision is to foster “botanical friendships”—connections between people, plants, and each other through the mindful act of observation and creation. By making botanical art accessible and meaningful, she transforms flowers into more than symbols: they become companions in our daily lives, storytellers of heritage, and gentle reminders of the beauty and wisdom found in nature.
