Reyhaneh Afzalian

Studio 88 Artist Residency is proud to welcome Reyhaneh Afzalian as our first-ever Iranian artist-in-residence, joining us for the June 2025 program. A multidisciplinary visual artist based in Tehran, Reyhaneh brings a thoughtful and evolving practice that bridges drawing, painting, sculpture, and land art. During her time at Studio 88, Reyhaneh will explore the intersection of landscape and identity through sculptural forms and temporary interventions, deepening her investigation into material, nature, and cultural resonance.

Testimonial – Adam Geczy

Studio 88 Artist Residency was honoured to host Adam Geczy, an artist, writer, and educator. During his time at the residency, he immersed himself in the local culture, capturing raw video footage and creating a series of black-and-white faux-film stills. The residency provided an ideal setting for reflection and creative development, inspiring ideas for a new performance project. Geczy, an accomplished artist and writer, found Studio 88 to be a space for deep artistic engagement, free from distractions. Dr Matt Yoxall

Studio 88 Artist Residency welcomes Dr Matt Yoxall, a theatre-maker, storyteller, leadership coach, and published academic with a diverse background in storytelling and community engagement. Trained in theatre in London in the mid-1990s, Matt has worked extensively as a professional storyteller, particularly in museum and art gallery education, as well as community cultural development.
