Testimonial – Keryn Robinson

Keryn Robinson is an artist from Melbourne, Australia. She discovered Studio 88 online, and its emphasis on experimentation without the pressure of a formal show appealed to her.

During her residency, Keryn engaged in painting and printmaking, utilising mulberry and handmade paper from a local women’s cooperative, which reignited her passion for printmaking. She even conducted a printmaking workshop and planned to facilitate art classes when she returns home.

The spirituality here is profound, intertwined with the local culture, alongside the Buddhas, Ganeshas, and other deities. The blend of Buddhism with animism and other religions is an integral part of daily life for the people here. She created a series of photos of spirit houses
and added glitter to them, which enhanced their visual appeal.

She thoroughly enjoyed the studio visits with other artists, attending art exhibitions, and meeting creative individuals. Studio 88 and Aom have been incredibly supportive. This experience has truly met her expectations.

After returning home, she hopes to exhibit the works she has created and hold a show in Melbourne. This residency has been a fantastic opportunity to develop her art, gather new ideas, explore printmaking further, and possibly incorporate more glitter into her work. She also aims to run some art classes when she goes back to Melbourne.
