Wanlop Hansunthai

Wanlop Hansunthai, Thai contemporary artist is Wanlop is one of the featured artists at Studio 88’s exhibition “Identity of Monograph: A Dialogue Between Fixed Naratives and Fluid Selves”, as part of the Evolving Identities programme.

Wanlop Hansunthai is a Thai contemporary artist from Nakhon Ratchasima, lives and works in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University. His practice investigates the relationship between humans, nature, and society through various media including painting, mixed media, sculpture, photography, and installation.


His work has been featured in numerous significant exhibitions both in Thailand and abroad, such as The Unspoken Dialogue (MAIIAM, 2025), Survival Sphere (2024), HAUS (2023), Against the Wall (Numthong Art Space, 2023), TEDxChiangMai (2024), Kenduri Seni Patani (2024), The Presence of Silence (2023), Résidence de France at the French Embassy in Bangkok (2023), Shinano Primitive Sense Art Festival (Japan, 2021), Shine Landscape Award (Italy, 2020), Cell Nature (Chicago & Chiang Mai, 2019), Art for Air (Editions I & II), MAIELIE (Khon Kaen), as well as exhibitions at BACC, the Queen Sirikit Gallery, and the Neilson Hays Library.

Wanlop is one of the featured artists at Studio 88’s exhibition “Identity of Monograph: A Dialogue Between Fixed Naratives and Fluid Selves”, on view from July to August 2025 as part of Evolving Identities programme. We are interested in his approached on how does the role of ‘the Artist’ function in relation to creative practices that are identity forming, and within the broader political realms of representation, documentation, and the evolving ethics of everyday life in the world today.
