Studio 88 Launches First Extended Residency Programme – First Stop: Singapore. Featuring Sara Wolman and her talk “What Still Sings?”

Studio 88 Artist Residency is proud to launch its very first Extended Residency Programme, expanding the impact of our artistic journeys beyond borders. We are thrilled to announce that Singapore is our inaugural destination—and to mark this special occasion, we are featuring Sara Wolman, an exceptional artist who has been a powerful voice in our environmental conversations.

Sara Wolman is a visual artist, graphic designer, and naturalist, as the first artist-in-residence in our Extended Residency, part of the ongoing Reviving Nature series. After joining the programme for two consecutive years in Thailand, Sara now brings her creative practice and environmental insight to Singapore with a public event titled “What Still Sings?”—an inspiring talk paired with an interactive game session on nature conservation and bird migration.

Over the past two years, Studio 88’s Reviving Nature Residency has become a space for artists to explore how creativity can respond to the climate crisis—bridging art, science, and human emotion. Now, as we take this journey internationally, Singapore becomes a natural first step. Nestled along one of the world’s major migratory bird routes, the city is a crossroads where urban development and biodiversity meet. It’s also home to a dynamic network of conservationists and creatives—a fitting location to continue the dialogue about what it means to protect what still remains.

About Sara Wolman
Sara Wolman is a visual artist, graphic designer, and naturalist based in both Alaska and Mexico. She spent the last decade working as a ranger for national parks and wildlife refuges, specifically engaging in community outreach and climate education through art. She has witnessed first-hand the detrimental effects of climate change and its societal impact in the far reaches of the Arctic and the depths of the ocean. She currently works as a conservation artist and environmental educator and advocate. Through her experience and art, she aims to transform the messaging behind climate change and inevitable collapse, looking to inspire a world on fire away from indifference and back towards the beauty of what remains.

About the Talk: What Still Sings?
“What Still Sings is a reflection on my journey as a conservationist and artist, witnessing both the beauty of migratory birds that connect our world and the profound loss brought by climate collapse. Having seen these changes firsthand, I’ve grappled with the weight of climate grief—but rather than a burden, I see it as a path forward. By embracing loss, we open ourselves to a deeper, more intentional way of living—one rooted in presence, connection, and amplifying what still sings in a changing world.”

This event marks an exciting step forward for Studio 88’s growing international presence and commitment to creative responses to global challenges. We can’t wait to share more inspirational moments and cross-border collaborations in the near future.
