We are excited to announce the Studio 88 x NY20+ Residency for Thai Artists and invite applications for the 2025 program. The residency will take place in Chengdu, China, from July 1 to July 30, 2025. Submission by 15 April 2025.
The Studio 88 x NY20+ Residency for Thai Artists offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich Bashu culture of Sichuan, blending tradition, ecology, and modern artistic expression. Hosted at NY20+ in Chengdu, China, a renowned art promotion organization dedicated to international cultural exchange, the residency invites artists to engage with local handicrafts, history, and patterns, incorporating these influences into their practice. With direct access to NY20+’s expansive 141,000-square-meter campus, featuring three themed zones for exhibitions, workshops, and cultural events, participants will be immersed in Sichuan’s cultural heritage, fostering creativity and cross-cultural dialogue.

The Studio 88 x NY20+ partnership began in 2024, when two Thai artists, Koi Sakunee and Pear Chatrawee, were selected for the residency and later received an exclusive invitation to showcase their work at an international Expo in October 2024. In 2025, Studio 88 x NY20+ celebrates 50 years of Thai-Chinese friendship by continuing this collaboration and launching another call for artists-in-residence.
