Jasmine Baksh

We’re excited to welcome Jasmine Baksh, a sculptor and multidisciplinary artist, to Studio 88. Based in Clifton, New Jersey, Jasmine’s work is deeply autobiographical, shaped by personal experiences and memories that explore themes of domestic violence, hidden emotions, and instability. Through her confessional art, she transforms difficult life experiences into powerful visual narratives, using sculpture as a language to communicate what words often cannot.

Jasmine’s artistic practice is rooted in experimentation with diverse materials, creating evocative sculptures that are both raw and thought-provoking. Her work often incorporates visual puns to convey complex emotions in simple yet impactful ways. She holds a BFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts and has exhibited her work in solo and group shows, including her solo exhibition Sticks and Stones at Chashama in New York City. She also completed a residency at Isla De Crear in Úbeda, Spain, where she began exploring painting alongside her sculptural work.

At Studio 88, Jasmine will continue to experiment with sculpture and painting. Her current project involves weaving copper wires into garlands shaped like pointing fingers, designed to provoke interaction as viewers move through the installation. She also plans to create a large plaster torso sculpture with an open, tunnel-like neck, symbolising vulnerability and protection. Jasmine’s work invites viewers into intimate spaces of reflection, confronting the silent struggles that many carry.
