It is our pleasure to welcome Phonepaserth Phimsavanh (Bee) as an Artist-in-Residence at Studio 88. Bee is a Laos visual artist whose practice is rooted in personal memory, lived experience, and close observation of her surrounding environment. Her work draws inspiration from nature, everyday life, local agriculture, and childhood recollections, weaving these elements into expressive compositions filled with warmth, movement, and vibrant color. Phonepaserth Phimsavanh (Bee) is a member of Lost Jjigsaw, artist-initiative in Laos.

Bee’s paintings often translate stories of family, place, and emotion into visual form. Through recurring motifs, figures, landscapes, and symbolic structures, she reflects on relationships between people and their environments. Works such as Warm Family speak to themes of belonging, care, and shared memory, while other pieces explore more complex emotional and social landscapes, balancing intimacy with reflection.

During her residency at Studio 88, Bee will continue developing paintings that explore memory, atmosphere, and storytelling. Through a slower, reflective working process, she will draw from her personal experiences and the surrounding environment to create new works that hold both emotional depth and visual clarity. Her time at the studio offers space to expand these narratives, allowing everyday moments to unfold into layered, expressive compositions.

Through her practice, Bee invites viewers to connect with familiar feelings such as home, family, landscape, and lived experience that translated into color, form, and movement. Her work offers a space to pause, remember, and feel, reminding us of the quiet beauty found ordinary life.
Studio 88 accepts applications on an ongoing basis. Check out our residency program and apply now.
