Gabriel Phway (Yangon, Myanmar, currently based in Chiang Mai) is a Singer, Songwriter, Mental Health Practitioner and Medical Doctor. She moves between worlds where sound becomes a form of care and songs hold space for survival, grief, and hope. Phway is invited as a Collaborative Artist at Studio 88.

Unbound by genre, Phway creates music independently—woven from indie, jazz, and soulful improvisation—to tell stories that words alone cannot carry. Her works, including the EP Addiction and the album Metamorphosis, trace inner transformations and collective longing. Songs like Tomorrow, Somewhere in the Mountains, and Rainbow drift between vulnerability and resilience, echoing a search for light amid uncertainty.
Phway’s music is inseparable from her lived reality. As Myanmar endures decades of civil war and the ongoing military coup since February 1, 2021, her voice stands in quiet resistance—bearing witness, remembering, and insisting on humanity. Through collaborations with jazz ensembles such as the Bamboo Trio and fellow artists, her performances become shared breaths, communal rituals of listening.
Currently based in Chiang Mai, Gabriel Phway joins Studio 88 as a guest artist, bringing with her a practice rooted in healing—where music listens back, and where every note is an act of solidarity.
