Veronika Petuchova is a visual artist working across painting, drawing, and photography. She graduated from HKU Utrecht in the Netherlands in 2021 and subsequently established her studio practice in The Hague, where she also participated in and organised exhibitions. Since 2024, Veronika has been based in Prague, where her practice has taken on a slower, more intimate rhythm, focusing on smaller-scale works, including watercolours, sketches, and digital drawings.

Veronika’s work is grounded in close observation of nature and the material qualities of the media she uses. Her images exist in a liminal space between abstraction and figuration, capturing fleeting moments, subtle transitions, and quiet transformations. Painting and drawing function for her as acts of attention and gratitude—ways to remain present and to honour the passage of time.

As part of the Reviving Nature Residency at Studio 88, Veronika will create a series of watercolours, pencil sketches, and analogue photographs, using the residency as an opportunity to slow down and ground herself in a new environment. Visiting Thailand for the first time, she aims to learn about practices connected to Thai cultural heritage and to engage with both the local community and the contemporary art scene.

Responding to the residency theme, Veronika will focus on herbs and plants that play an integral role in daily life—culinary, medicinal, spiritual, and artistic. Through her work, she seeks to highlight the quiet presence of what nourishes and heals us, celebrating the elements and honouring the land with sensitivity and care. Her practice reflects a deep appreciation of nature and the connections formed through travel, seeing the natural world as both inspiration and reflection.

Studio 88 accepts applications on an ongoing basis. Check out our residency program and apply now.
