Roman Ne is a Zurich-based multimedia artist and digital consultant. With a background in new media, sound, and Web3 tools, his work spans visual design, immersive audio, and experimental mindfulness formats. After five years as a core team member of Acud Macht Neu in Berlin, he now develops conceptual and participatory projects such as Hardcore Yoga Nidra, exploring collective attention and contemporary states of rest. He is artist-in-residence at Studio 88 in November-December 2025.
After studying multimedia at FaVU in Brno, Roman spent eight years in Berlin co-organizing Acud Macht Neu — an initiative preserving Kunsthaus ACUD, one of Berlin’s longest-running independent art houses, from gentrification. From 2008 to 2018 he produced and performed with the award-winning music project Fiordmoss. He collaborates with artists Jesper Alvaer and Isabela Grosseova across diverse media. Roman’s recent tenure at the Web3 Foundation, an organization exploring digital autonomy and the philosophy of decentralized digital society, has grounded his current practice, prompting a shift toward mindful, embodied approaches that encourage slower, more attentive modes of being and foster a sense of collective presence.

Roman Ne’s journey bridges art, technology, and performance, blending experimental creativity with rigorous technical expertise. He began his academic exploration at Masaryk University in Brno, studying Applied Informatics (2004–2006), before following his passion for the arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology (2007–2015), specializing in Multimedia, Video, and Performance. In 2009, he broadened his horizons at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, exploring Art in Public Space, deepening his understanding of how art interacts with communities.
Roman’s artistic work has been recognized internationally through numerous awards and residencies. Notably, he co-founded Fiordmoss, an award-winning electronic audiovisual project, receiving the Vinyla Award for Discovery of the Year (2013) and the Anděl Award for Best Electronic Act (2018). His practice spans experimental performance, immersive audiovisual installations, and interdisciplinary collaborations, with exhibitions and performances across Europe—including the National Gallery Prague, Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo, Sonar Stockholm, and Kunstraum Düsseldorf. Residencies, such as the Laax Switzerland Residency in 2025 (Science & Technology / Defensive Acceleration) and ArtMill in Czechia (Sustainability & Arts, 2011), reflect his commitment to exploring the intersection of art, science, and society.

Beyond the studio, Roman combines his artistic sensibilities with technical leadership. Since 2020, he has led web initiatives at the Web3 Foundation in Switzerland, advancing open-source technologies and digital public goods grounded in decentralization, privacy, and resilience. Previously, he contributed to ACUD Macht Neu in Berlin (2015–2020), one of the city’s last independent art centers, supporting interdisciplinary culture through event curation, audiovisual production, and community-building.
Roman’s skill set spans sound design, installation and video production, graphic design, collaborative facilitation, modern web development, and project management. Across all his work, he navigates the space where technology, sound, and visual art intersect, creating experiences that challenge, engage, and inspire.

Hardcore Yoga Nidra (HCYN) reimagines Yoga Nidra as a large-scale, collective sound-based ritual. Participants lie in stillness, surrounded by low-frequency textures, Tibetan bowls, synths, and a neutral AI voice designed to remove ego and invite personal inner responses. Unlike traditional relaxation practices, HCYN treats the experience as an art canvas, exploring attention, imagination, and shared mental landscapes while maintaining bodily awareness.
During the residency, Roman aims to scale the practice from small prototypes to sessions accommodating 50–100 participants, addressing new choreographic and technical challenges. He will collaborate with other sensory artists and participants to refine and stress-test the approach, creating a robust, respectful, and immersive environment. HCYN is envisioned as an anti-hyperstimulation ritual—a secular space for collective rest, where minimal sound and guidance allow participants to explore “nothing” together.
