Wuko is a Thai visual artist whose work weaves together oriental mythology, pop culture, and reflections on belief. After joining the Studio 88 × NY20+ Residency Exchange in Chengdu in July 2025, he will continue his creative journey at Studio 88 in Chiang Mai this October.

Wuko is a Thai visual artist whose practice draws on oriental mythology and contemporary pop culture. Growing up in a Chinese–Buddhist family, he channels that heritage into vivid, character-driven narratives that explore belief systems and spiritual identity. A graduate in Industrial Design from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (Bangkok, 2016), Wuko has exhibited widely across Thailand, Australia, and China.
His solo debut, Mood Palette (Sol Gallery, Melbourne, 2024), showcased his distinctive fusion of manga aesthetics and spiritual symbolism. Group presentations include Sawadee Panda Art Fair (Chengdu, 2025), Anime World (Bangkok, 2024), Urban Collectibles (Bangkok, 2024), and Falling Out of Red (Melbourne, 2023). He has participated in projects for Dubai World Expo (2020) and live-painting commissions, most recently for Guinness (Bangkok, 2025).
Wuko was among the selected artists for the Studio 88 x NY20+ Residency Exchange in Chengdu (July 2025), furthering his cross-cultural exploration of myth, faith, and contemporary life.

Wuko said “My art is rooted in the stories and iconography I absorbed during childhood in a Chinese–Buddhist household. Through my signature character Buddhie, I navigate the intersection between spirituality and everyday life, questioning how beliefs shape the way we see ourselves and others. My work, often described as a blend of manga characters and meditative symbolism, invites viewers to reflect on the complexity, diversity, and sometimes perplexing nature of our faith and social values.”

During his residency in Chiang Mai, Wuko will continue developing the visual narrative around Buddhie, expanding it into a series of mixed-media illustrations and site-specific sketches inspired by the city’s temples, markets, and street culture. He plans to explore how Buddhist motifs and local folklore intertwine with modern urban sensibilities, creating new layers for his character’s journey.
The project will culminate in an intimate studio presentation and open discussion, where Wuko invites audiences to engage with questions of belief, heritage, and contemporary identity through playful yet contemplative imagery.
