Jack Hyslop

Jack Hyslop is a multimedia artist, writer, and musician from Los Angeles, California, whose work reimagines discarded materials into thought-provoking creations. Jack explores themes of everyday beauty, overconsumption, and humanity’s impact on the natural world through collage and reconstruction. His artistic practice celebrates sustainability, often incorporating reused or secondhand materials from online marketplaces, roadside donations, and community exchanges.

At Studio 88, Jack plans to embark on a transformative project by collecting discarded clothing and furniture from local dumping areas. His vision is to clean, rework, and repurpose these materials into revived furniture pieces, blending textile artistry with functional design. By turning waste into beauty, Jack hopes to inspire conversations about reducing consumption and recognizing the environmental impact of fashion waste.

Jack’s creative journey is enriched by his love for writing and music, which serve as additional outlets for his artistic expression. His participation in Studio 88’s residency reflects his desire to build community with local and international artists, embrace new challenges, and develop innovative techniques. Through his work, Jack aims to inspire change and encourage a deeper appreciation for sustainable living and creative reuse.
