Jakkrapan Sriwichai

Jakkrapan Sriwichai, an independent filmmaker and performance artist, will be joining Studio 88’s Design Lab Performing Arts artist residency from July to September 2024, extending his stay until the end of the year. Known for his sharp ideas and surprising film-directing techniques, Jakkrapan’s work often blends humor with poignant social commentary. Learn more about his work here!

Invisible Train – Jakkrapan Sriwichai (Jak of Ghosts)

Currently pursuing a master’s degree in visual arts at Chiang Mai University, Jakkrapan’s projects explore urban development, decentralised history, and local beliefs through moving images and performance art. His approach emphasises interaction and dialogue with audiences in public spaces, aiming to provoke thought and reflection on societal issues.

Jakkrapan’s short films have garnered international attention, being screened at prestigious festivals such as the Busan International Short Film Festival and the Locarno Film Festival. He is also an alumnus of Berlinale Talents, Locarno Open Doors, Early Year Project #7, and Purin’s Short Film Camp.

In addition to filmmaking, Jakkrapan has ventured into performance art, creating impactful works like “Human Corn” and “Invisible Train,” which have gained significant online attention and critique. His art projects have been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including Poiser Exhibition, Kenduri Seni Nusantara, Pootorn Connect, A Change in the Paradigm, Collapse Time and Time Again, and the Ten Duen Ha Community art festival at Khuan Ka Ma community.
