Studio 88 is now calling for application from artists in any discipline who want to relax & create at our creative garden retreat in the village of Doi Saket, any time between 8 July and 29 September 2024.
We invite artists from anywhere in the world to join us and soak up the laid-back atmosphere of Doi Saket while exploring your creative practice in an unhurried and relaxed garden environment.
In the frenzied pace of contemporary society, artists are increasingly finding the need for time to reflect and create without the pressure of tight production schedules. Sometimes the pressure to produce can lead to getting stuck in a rut, doing the same type of work, and the lack of ability to take risks and explore.
In this residency we want to create a space where artists can slow down from this frenetic pace and take care of themselves as well as their art. The residency will curate a weekly activity with each artist according to what they’re most interested in. It could be a hike in the local forest, a massage or a cooking session. This is not about filling your time, but rather it is about complimenting your creative practice with activities that revive and rejuvenate.
The Relax & Create residency is open from 8 July to 29 September 2024, but you can come for any period of time between 1 week and 2 months. You can decide what best works for you. Apply by 15 June 2024 and let us know your preferred dates.
We encourage artists from all disciplines to participate, including but not limited to:
- Visual arts: painting, sculpture, photography, installation, mixed media, digital art, and more
- Performing arts: theatre, dance, performance art, multimedia presentations, and live events
- Literary arts: poetry, prose, spoken word, storytelling, and other written forms
- Film and video: documentaries, short films, animation, experimental works, and multimedia projects
- Sound and music: compositions, soundscapes, audiovisual collaborations, and sonic explorations
What does the residency include?
- Accommodation and studio space in a self-contained bungalow in rural Doi Saket
- One curated activity per week
- Administrative support on-site
- Research assistance
- Networking opportunities for potential collaborations (if desired)
- Artist profile promotion on our website and social media platforms
Selection process
Studio 88 will select the artists for the call.
Selected artists will be notified via email in March 2024.
