Aracha Cholitgul selected for the Delfina Foundation Residency Programme

We are thrilled to announce that Aracha “Ossy” Cholitgul has been selected for the prestigious Delfina Foundation’s residency programme! This remarkable achievement is a testament to Ossy’s dedication, creativity, and thought-provoking artistic practice.

Reflecting on her experience, Ossy shared how a consultation session with Strategy for the Arts & Studio 88 played a pivotal role in refining her application. Through this collaboration, Ossy gained clarity, direction, and confidence in her project proposal. She remarked:

“The consultation session helped me a lot in reflecting on my practice and polishing my application. I was able to see my application from another perspective. P Aom and Firdy asked many useful questions and gave me homework that was good exercise. I was able to form a clear thought and direction for my application process.”

Initially hesitant about seeking external guidance, Ossy decided to engage consulting services to maximize her chances of success. The results speak for themselves, as she emphasizes how the session became not just a service but a valuable learning opportunity:

“This consultation was an educational opportunity rather than a service, and I was ready to spend money to learn more about grant writing which I wasn’t good at.”

During her residency at the Delfina Foundation, Ossy will work on her compelling project, ‘(On the Road) – Notes on Transportation, Travel, and Trauma.’ This ambitious endeavor seeks to explore personal histories intricately tied to Thailand’s transportation systems, travel experiences, spiritual beliefs, and mental health issues. Ossy’s vision promises to bring forth narratives that are as insightful as they are transformative.

Ossy strongly recommends professional coaching services for other artists, highlighting how it can alleviate doubts and bring clarity:

“I normally hesitate to ask for help from my friends, but as a paid service, there’s a relief that they are professional and that they will put in the best effort. After learning from P Aom and Firdy, I feel more confident and more hopeful about my future residency applications.”

Aracha Cholitgul is a Thailand-based artist whose practice revolves around understanding her surroundings through a deeply personal and introspective process. Her work reflects a sense of intimacy and craftsmanship, as she enjoys hands-on engagement, slowly developing a relationship with her creations. She explores personal stories across various mediums, including drawing, painting, writing, object and image-making, and installation art.

Currently based in Chiang Mai, Aracha navigates themes of belonging and identity, often shaped by the tourism-driven landscapes she inhabits. Her previous homes include Koh Phangan, Pattaya, and Bangkok, places that have influenced her perspective and creative journey.
We once again congratulate Ossy on being successfully selected for the Delfina Foundation Residency Programme, which will take place from January to March 2025.
