Studio 88 Launches Art for Hearts and Minds Initiative

Studio 88 Artist Residency is thrilled to unveil Art for Hearts and Minds, a program dedicated to supporting the education, mental wellness, and creative development of young people in the Doi Saket community.

This Art for Hearts and Minds initiative is designed to engage both children (ages 4–12) and young adults (ages 13–18) through age-appropriate activities that foster self-expression, cultural connection, and emotional well-being.

Art for Hearts and Minds offers tailored workshops and programs to create a nurturing space where participants can grow, discover their potential, and thrive in a supportive environment.

Program Highlights:

  • Art Therapy Workshops:
    • For Children (4–12): Fun and engaging art activities, such as drawing, painting, and storytelling, encourage imagination and emotional expression.
    • For Young Adults (13–18): In-depth art sessions exploring creative techniques and self-reflection through mediums like sculpture, mixed media, and narrative art.
  • Cultural Arts Programs:
    • Hands-on workshops tailored to each age group, introducing participants to traditional Thai crafts, folk art, and design, inspiring pride in their cultural heritage.
  • Mindfulness Activities:
    • For Children: Playful exercises, games and simple relaxation techniques to encourage focus and calmness.
    • For Young Adults: Sharing sessions, games, and mindfulness practices aimed at managing stress and building emotional resilience.
  • Educational Support:
    • Provision of art supplies, scholarships, and resources to ensure all participants, regardless of their background, have access to enriching educational opportunities.

With age-appropriate programming, Art for Hearts and Minds ensures that children and young adults benefit from activities that suit their developmental needs while promoting creativity and well-being.

Statement from our Director, Sasiwimon Wongjarin

At Studio 88, we believe in the transformative power of art, education, and cultural connection to shape a person’s future. This belief is deeply personal as it reflects my own journey. Growing up in Thailand, I was fortunate to receive guidance and support from individuals abroad who believed in my potential. Their encouragement led me to study in the Netherlands, where I pursued my degrees and deepened my understanding of art and creativity.

The opportunities I received opened doors to the world and taught me the value of giving back. Art for Hearts and Minds is my way of paying forward the kindness and support I was given. By nurturing the creative and emotional growth of children and young adults in Doi Saket, I hope to inspire them to dream boldly and embrace their own paths, just as I was inspired.

I’m thrilled to invite our residents, artists, and supporters to join us in this journey of empowerment and connection. Together, we can create lasting change for the next generation.” – Sasiwimon Wongjarin, Director of Studio 88 Artist Residency.
