In February and March 2024 Canadian multidisciplinary artist Céline Goudreau participated in our residency Reviving Nature. She shares some highlights of her stay at Studio 88.
Studio 88 is a really special artists’ residency. 30 minutes from Chiang Mai, this residency is located in the village of Doi Saket, a lush, quiet, energizing and inspiring place.

The director Sasiwimon Wongjarin(Aom) is a passionate, resourceful woman who is very involved in her community. She facilitated our stay and organized stimulating activities around the theme of “Reviving Nature”, enabling us to meet Thai scientific researchers and artists. We also had the chance to showcase our work at the Passion Market and the Pop-Up Exhibition at the Goodcery, curated by Virinsire Chomchey (Ice).

Here are my favorite moments:
Extraordinary interactions with international artists who share the same concerns about environmental issues.
Aom’s dynamism, kindness and sense of organization.
The visit to the R.U.E.E. Lab, the Breath Council and the Dheprisi Creative Space.
The walk around the Mae Kha canal, a concept designed by architect Jai Baan.
The personal tour of CAP Studio with the artist Kitikong Tilokwattanotai.
The afternoon of sharing and printmaking with the artist Koi Sakunee (If you want to be free, be free!).
The chance to meet Chatrawee Thongnak (Pear), a wonderful artist and inspiring woman.
The exceptional massages given by Sanguan (Aom’s aunt).
The group dinners.
The bicycle rides through the village lanes around the rice fields and the temples.
The afternoons at the Passion Market.

Studio 88 is an incredible residency. It was an experience I won’t forget! I dream of going back!
