Testimonial: Diewke van den Heuvel

In February and March 2024, Dutch photographer and mixed media artist Diewke van den Heuvel was an artist-in-residence at Studio 88. Here is what she told us about her experience:

“From the moment I stepped into this creative place, I knew I was embarking on a journey that would profoundly shape my artistic practice and personal growth.

Studio88 is not merely a space; it’s a special venue in nature where I could focus. The serene ambiance and huge working spaces brought my work to the next level.

One of the most enriching aspects of my residency was the opportunity to interact with fellow artists. The sense of camaraderie and shared passion for art fostered an atmosphere of collaboration rather than competition. Engaging in stimulating discussions, exchanging feedback, and witnessing the diverse approaches to art opened my eyes to new perspectives and enriched my artistic sensibilities.

Moreover, the support and guidance from the Studio88 staff were invaluable. Their expertise, knowing their communities and surroundings, brought me to places I couldn’t imagine.

Studio88 provided not only a space for creation but also a platform for showcasing my art to a wider audience. The exhibitions, open studios of other artists, and networking events organized by the studio offered great opportunities to work together.

I left with a profound sense of gratitude and accomplishment. The experiences, friendships, and memories forged during my time here will forever hold a special place in my heart and continue to inspire me in my artistic journey.
